Q: What kind of research does the Center do?
A: The Center’s current research work is focused around five main research areas: New Media Publishing, New Media Advertising, Sustainable Print, Color Workflow, and Industry Studies. Within these areas, the Center conducts academic research studies to answer the pertinent research questions put forth by our research faculty with the guidance of our Industry Partners. The Center does not conduct work for hire.
Q: Does the Center conduct annual surveys of the printing industry?
A: No, the Center does not conduct annual surveys of the printing industry. Organizations that do conduct annual surveys of the printing industry include PIA, NAPL, and NPES. Please visit our Resources page for more links to other industry associations.
Q: Does the Center conduct research on trends for specific segments of the printing industry?
A: The Center does not conduct research on trends for specific segments of the industry unless these trends are pertinent to a research study we are conducting.
Q: Does the Center have data for benchmarking purposes?
A: No, the Center does not collect statistics of this nature unless they are pertinent to a research study we are conducting. NAPL does publish information such as this in its Blue Book studies. Other organizations may have information pertinent to this topic as well. Please visit our Resources page for more links to other industry associations.
Q: Does the Center offer any degree programs?
A: No, the Center does not offer any degree programs or confer degrees. The Center is located at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), which is an accredited university with eight colleges that offer various undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Q: Does the Center offer any webinars or training events?
A: No, the Center does not normally offer any webinars or training events, although Center researchers do participate in various webinars and training events through RIT and in the industry. However, the RIT Printing Applications Laboratory (PAL) does offer industry training programs. A listing of the current schedule is available at printlab.rit.edu.
Q: How do I sign up for an industry training program?
A: Visit printlab.rit.edu for more information, or contact Ken Posman, Training Manager.
Q: How can I find or post a job listing?
A: All RIT job listings are posted through the Office of Cooperative Education and Career Services, and are only available for viewing to current RIT students or RIT alumni.

A: Please contact Ashley Walker, Communications Coordinator, to request reprint permissions.
Q: Can my organization link to the Center’s website and/or work from our website?
A: Please contact Ashley Walker, Communications Coordinator, to request permission to link to the Center’s work. Direct links to the Center’s home page can be set up without a request, but we would appreciate having notification of the link in case we are able to provide a reciprocal link.
Q: I see a protected part of the site that I can’t log in to. Can I have a log in for the Industry Partner Gateway?
A: The Industry Partner section of our website is restricted to employees of companies who are Industry Partners of the Center. A list of current Industry Partners is available here.
If you are not an employee of one of these companies, we cannot provide you with a log in. Please note that this section is the only area of our website that requires a log-in, and all other information on the site is publicly available, including our research monographs.
However, if you are interested in receiving communications from the Center, you can be added to our newsletter list. Each month we send out an e-newsletter that contains a summary of recent research, and each quarter we send out a printed newsletter containing recent summaries and any other Center news.
Q: How do I sign up to receive Center newsletters?
A: We are currently retooling our mailing lists as we transition to a new Center focus, and cannot accommodate any new members at this time. Stay tuned for new offerings coming in winter of 2012!
Q: I own a printing company and want to know if the Center is interested in using our services?
A: The Center has an established relationship with a local print vendor for all of its printing needs. We appreciate your interest but request that you do not contact us with these offers.
Q: I manufacture/sell printing presses, paper, and/or other printing equipment. Would the Center be interested in buying any equipment?
A: The Center does not maintain its own print shop or print labs. We therefore do not have need of any presses, paper, or other printing equipment.
Q: Will the Center have a booth at any printing industry tradeshows?
A: No, the Center does not have its own booth at any industry tradeshows. However, RIT does have a booth at certain industry tradeshows, and the Center researchers who are in attendance at those industry events may be contacted there.
